Another translation of 2 Corinthians 3:18 says we “are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory" (NIV). When we try to change ourselves, we usually fail! However, if we will look to God and simply let His Spirit work within us, we’ll be amazed at the supernatural change He makes.įinally, we need to understand that there is never an end to growing in God. Secondly, we should understand that true change is a work of the Holy Spirit. The more you are with Him, the more you’ll see the good seed “sprout and grow” in you. The growing process is simply the result of becoming more like Jesus. Others around you will even notice your new, pleasant attitude. Instead of criticizing and complaining, you'll find that your words uplift and encourage. You may not be able to pinpoint exactly how or when you change, but if you keep seeking God, one day you'll realize your anger and bitterness have been replaced with love and compassion.
Jesus explained, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how” (Mark 4: 26-27).
